    • A significant progress has been made in the study of the effect of white fresh skin Sophora flavescens on microbial changes after liver injury in Wistar rats. This study utilized high-throughput sequencing technology to explore in depth the potential microbial mechanisms underlying liver injury induced by white fresh skin Sophora flavescens. The research team observed the effects of different doses of white fresh skin Sophora flavescens on the liver of rats by gavage. The results showed that the liver weight and liver body mass ratio of rats in the middle and high dose groups of traditional Chinese medicine significantly increased, and the levels of serum albumin and cholesterol also increased. In addition, small vacuolar changes were observed in the pathology of liver tissue, indicating that Sophora flavescens may have caused damage to the liver of rats. It is worth mentioning that the study also found that there was a significant disruption in the gut microbiota after administration of Bai Xianpi Kushen. Compared with the normal group, the alpha diversity increased and the species composition underwent significant changes in the medium and high-dose groups of traditional Chinese medicine. For example, the proportion of Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes decreased, while certain microorganisms related to lipid metabolism, such as Parasottella and Romboutsia, significantly increased. Further correlation analysis indicates that the changes in these microorganisms are closely related to indicators such as serum cholesterol and liver body mass ratio. This research achievement provides a new perspective for understanding the microbial mechanism of liver injury caused by white fresh skin Sophora flavescens, and also provides important references for future drug development and clinical applications.
