    • Effect and Mechanism of Water Extract of Mori Folium on Oxidative Stress in Adipose Tissue of T2DM Mice

    • An important research progress has been made on the effect of mulberry leaf water extract on oxidative stress of adipose tissue in type 2 diabetes mice. Through carefully designed experiments, the research team found that the water extract of mulberry leaf can significantly reduce the fasting blood glucose and oral glucose tolerance level of diabetes mice, and reduce the adipose tissue index at the same time. This mechanism of action is related to the increase of serum antioxidant enzymes SOD and GSH content by mulberry leaf water extract, and the decrease of oxidative stress damage marker MDA level. More importantly, the study also revealed that the water extract of mulberry leaf can up regulate the expression of SIRT1 protein in adipose tissue and down regulate the expression of NOX4 protein, which provides an important clue for further understanding the role of water extract of mulberry leaf in improving diabetes. This discovery not only provides a new potential drug for the treatment of diabetes, but also provides a scientific basis for the development and utilization of mulberry leaf resources.
