Analysis on Metabolites and Metabolic Pathways of Harmine in Rats by UPLC-Q-TOF-MS
“A significant progress has been made in the study of the metabolic process of dehydrocamelbine in rats. By using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF-MS), the research team successfully identified the metabolites of dehydrocamelbine in rats and explored its distribution differences and metabolic pathways in vivo. The research team collected plasma, bile, urine, and fecal samples from SD rats after administering a single dose of dehydrocamelbine by gavage, and conducted detailed analysis using UPLC-Q-TOF-MS. By comparing literature data, they identified a total of 42 metabolites, including 26 in plasma, 17 in bile, 26 in urine, and 13 in feces. These metabolites involve multiple metabolic pathways such as monohydroxylation, dihydroxylation, demethylation, glucuronidation, and sulfation. The research results indicate that dehydrocamelbine undergoes phase I and phase II metabolic reactions in rats, and the prototype drug is metabolized rapidly in vivo. Metabolites are mainly excreted through the kidneys, which is of great significance for understanding the pharmacological and material basis research of dehydrocamel alkaloids. The results of this study not only provide important references for the pharmacological and material basis research of dehydrocamelbine, but also open up new directions for in-depth research in related fields.”
