Kolorektales Karzinom ist ein bösartiger Tumor, der aus den Epithelzellen des Dick- und Mastdarms entsteht. Es ist das dritthäufigste und zweit tödlichste bösartige Tumor weltweit. Mit der raschen wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung unseres Landes und der zunehmenden Westernisierung der Ernährungsgewohnheiten steigt die Inzidenz bei uns jährlich an. In den letzten Jahrzehnten wurden zwar zahlreiche Behandlungsmethoden für kolorektales Karzinom entwickelt, aber die Wirksamkeit der derzeitigen Therapien ist weiterhin unbefriedigend. In den letzten Jahren ist die traditionelle chinesische Medizin aufgrund ihrer Vorteile wie multizielgerichtete, multipfade und geringe Nebenwirkungen zu einem Schwerpunkt in der Behandlung von kolorektalem Karzinom geworden. Der vaskuläre endotheliale Wachstumsfaktor (VEGF) ist ein wichtiger angiogener Faktor, der durch die Förderung der Blutgefäßbildung Nährstoffe und Sauerstoff für das Tumorwachstum bereitstellt und die Gefäßpermeabilität erhöht, wodurch Tumorzellen leichter durch die Gefäßwand in andere Gewebe eindringen können, was zu Metastasen führt. Mehrere Studien zeigen, dass die traditionelle chinesische Medizin über den VEGF-Signalweg wirkt und dadurch die Tumorangiogenese und Lymphangiogenese hemmt, die Apoptose von Tumorzellen fördert und die Proliferation kolorektaler Krebszellen hemmt, wodurch das Tumorwachstum verzögert wird. Die Anzahl der Publikationen in diesem Bereich hat sich in den letzten Jahren schnell erhöht, jedoch fehlt eine systematische Übersicht, was die spätere Literaturrecherche erschwert. Deshalb behandelt dieser Artikel die physiologischen Funktionen des VEGF-Signalwegs, dessen Rolle bei der Entstehung kolorektalen Karzinoms und die Intervention der traditionellen chinesischen Medizin im VEGF-Signalweg, um Informationen zu ergänzen und zusammenzufassen und als Referenz für zukünftige Studien zu dienen.
