Effect of and Its Prescription on Blood Glucose in Experimental Animals
name of diabetes mellitus in traditional chinese medicine
marked by polydipsia
polyphagia and polyuria. It's treatment with traditional chinese medicine follows the principles of Qingre Shengjin and Yiqi Yangyin. The therapeutic key is hypoglycemic effects.Powder of coptis chinensis is known to reduce blood glucose level in normal mice and alloxan diabetic mice. The blood glucose level descend 23% in normal mice and 33% in alloxan mice respectively. Our findings showed that the prescription of Coptis chinensis
Astragalus membranaceus
Ligustrun lucidum
and Ophiopogon japonicus Which are often used in Xiaoke recipes remains the hypoglycemic effect
and enhances the ability of clearing Gongo red from serum in normal mice.It may be effective in treatment of diabetes and preventing of diabetic complications.
