Objective: To study the effect of mailuoning injection on noxious heat stasis syndrome rat model induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS)in combination with carrageenan(Ca). Method: Fifty SPF SD male rats were randomly divided into five groups

namely blank control group the model control group and Mailuoning of low

medium and high dose group(3.75

30 mg·kg-1).The animals in the model group were pretreated with Ca ip at the doses of 50 mg·kg-1

and then treated by LPS iv at the doses o f 5 μg·kg-1 sixteen hours later

while the control group was given normal saline(NS).After 24 hours

the apprence of congestion in rat tails was considered as successfully established models.Blank control group and model control group were injected with the same capacity of NS

for 14 consecutive days

once a day. Then they were fasted for 12 h.The blood

liver and spleen were collected. The serum interleukin-6(IL-6)

tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) were detected.Meanwhile whole blood viscosity

plasma thrombin original time (PT) and platelet aggregation rate and the histopathology of the liver and spleen were observed. Result: The mailuoning groups reduced IL-6 and TNF-α(P<0.05)

plasma viscosity and platelet aggregation rate were lower(P<0.05 or P<0.01)

prothrombin time increase(P<0.01)

and the liver and spleen had no obvious inflammation and congestion. Conclusion: Mailuoning injection has a certain therapeutic effect on the noxious heat stasis syndrome rat model induced by lipopolysaccharide in combination with carrageenan.
