Objective:To analyze the chemical constituents in the volatile oils of Gentiana haynaldii Kanitz. Method: The volatile oils of Gentiana haynaldii were extracted by water steam distillation and its chemical constituents were separated and identified by GC-MS. Result: Eighteen components were identified
which constituted about 98.4% of the total volatile oils. The main compounds were hexadecanoic acid (28.05%)

15-tetramethyl-2-hexadedcen-1-ol(4.84%). Conclusion: Many components in the volatile oils had obvious biological activity
and this research provided a scientific evidence for deep exploitation and usage of G. haynaldii.
