Antibacterial Activity and Chemical Constituents of Petroleum Ether Fraction in Mycelia
Objective:In order to develop natural antibacterial agents
the antibacterial activity of Aspergillus niger xj was investigated. Method: The disc diffusion method was used to measure the antibacterial activity of petroleum ether (P.E)
ethyl acetate (EtOAc) and water extracts of Aspergillus niger mycelia. The P.E fraction with antibacterial activity was separated by silica gel column chromatography method
then separated and identified by GC-MS after being esterified with methanol. Result: Ten compounds were isolated and identified from the petroleum ether extract of mycelia which exhibited inhibitory effect against Staphylococcus aureus. Conclusion: The petroleum ether extract of Aspergillus niger xj mycelia contained natural substances with antibacterial activity in which fatty acids are the main constituents.
