Preventive Treatment of Kaiwei Jianpi Yin for Gastrointestinal Side-effects Induced by Azithromycin
Objective:To observe the clinical effectiveness of Kaiwei Jianpi Yin (KJY) on preventive treatment of gastrointestinal side-effects of azithromycin in intravenous drip. Method: Eighty cases with Mycoplasma pneumoniae antibody (MP-Ab) positive and respiratory symptoms were randomly divided into 2 groups (n=40 each). The control group was given azithromycin by intravenous drip only (10 mg·kg-1 daily for 3-5 d)
while the treatment group was given KJY (100 mL) orally 30 minutes before the intravenous drip in addition. The gaotreintenstinal side effect incidence rate in the two groups was compared. Result: Incidence rate of side-effects in the treatment group was 20%
while that in the control group was 45%. There was statistical significance (P<0.05). Conclusion: KJY can reduce the incidence rate of the gastrointestinal side-effects of azithromycin in intravenous drip and it is worth to be applied clinically.
