Objective: To study volatile components of Marsdenia tenocissima. Method: Soxhlet extraction method with petroleum ether and ethyl ether were accompanied with gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) to analyze the volatile components respectively. Result: 24 compounds identified by GC-MS with petroleum ether accounted for 55.43% of all volatile components; fatty acids were 75.10% and alkanes were 11.91%; 24 compounds identified with ethyl ether accounted for 60.43%; fatty acids were 38.98% and alkanes were 39.27%. Conclusion: The study provides useful data for further analysis of components of Marsdenia tenocissima.
