Determination of 5-Hydroxmethylfurfural in Commercial Trichosanthis Fructus by HPLC
Objective: To establish an HPLC method for content determination of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) in commercial Trichosanthis Fructus
a commonly used Chinese material medica. Method: The HPLC analysis was performed on an ODS column (4.6 mm×250 mm
5 μm) and the mobile phase consisted of methanol-water (15: 85) at a flow rate of 0.8 mL · min-1. The detective wavelength was set at 284 nm and the column temperature was maiutain at 30℃. Result: The HPLC method for content determination of 5-HMF in Trichosanthis Fructus was established. 5-HMF was detected in 18 batches of commercial Trichosanthis Fructus
the content of which were in the range of 11.10-193.6 μg ·g-1. Conclusion: The content of 5-HMF in commercial Trichosanthis Fructus is quite different. This method is suitable for the quality control of Trichosanthis Fructus.
