Effect of Zhimaining on Oxidative Stress and Gene Expression of LDL-R, VCAM-1 in Rabbit with Atherosclerosis
Objective: To discuss the anti-atherosclerosis mechanism of Zhimaining. Methed: Rabbit atherosclerosis model was reproduced with high fat diet. Zhimaining was fed for 4 weeks when hyperlipidemia had been taken shape in 4 weeks

Low density lipoprotein-R(LDL-R) mRNA and VCAM-1 mRNA were detected. Result: There was a significient increase in lipid
superoside dismatase(SOD) and malandiavdehyde(MDA) and decrease in Gluathine(GSH)
Glutathine peroxidase(GSH-Px) in model group compared with contral group; there was a significient increase in aorta endometrial and plaque in model group compared with contral group. A very significient decrease of lipid and MDA and increase of GSH
GSH-Px in high dose (0.375 g·kg-1) and low dose(0.188 g·kg-1) group were manifested compared with control group. There was a significient increase of the expression of VCAM-1 mRNA and decrease of the expression of LDL-R mRNA both in the Zhimaining groups compared with contral group. Conclution :The anti-atherosclerosis mechanism of Zhimaining may be related with regulating the antioxidant and metabolism of lipid and the expression of LDL-R mRNA and VCAM-1 mRNA.
