Influence of Water Extract from Tibetan Medicine Oxytropis Falcata Bung on Cytokine Expression and Lung Injury in Rats with Sepsis
Objective: To investigate water extract (EOF) intervention in septic rats
and to explore EOF on serum cytokines in septic rats. Method: The male SD rats were randomly divided into 5 groups: normal control group (n=6)
sham operation group (n=24)
model group (n=24)
EOF low dose (0.5 g ·kg-1) group (n=24) and high dose EOF (2 g ·kg-1) group (n=24). Experimental model was established by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP)

24 h after modeling blood was collected and double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to determine serum TNF-α
IL-6
IL-10 level. Result: In the model group TNF-α
IL-6 and IL-10 were higher than those in the sham group (P<0.01). EOF treatment group showed (except 2 h)
TNF-α and IL-6 were decresed (P<0.05)
and IL-10 inctesed (P<0.05). Compared with those in the model group. High dose EOF showed stronger effects
compared with those in the low dose EOF(P<0.05). Conclusion: EOF can reduce sepsis TNF-α
IL-6 expression; increase expression of IL-10 inrats with sepsis. EOF has anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects. It might become new drug for clinical treatment of sepsis.
