Objective : To optimize extraction technology of Geranium wilfordii and study on matrix prescription and preparation technology of G. wilfordii gel. Method: L9(34)orthogonal test was used to optimize extraction process with dry extraction ratio and the content of gallic acid as indexes;matrices were selected according to appearance and stability of preparation
and prescription factors were selected according to comprehensive scores of appearances. Result: Optimum extraction technology of G. wilfordii gel was boiled 2 times with 10 times the amounts of water for 1 h each time; Optimum matrix prescription was carbopol 940-glycerin-propylene glycol-triethanolamine(1.5% ∶2% ∶2% ∶5%). Conclusion : Optimum extraction technology was simple and feasible
preparation technology was stable and finished products are easy to be coated with delicate texture.
