Analysis of Volatiles from Leaves of by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy
Objective: To study the volatiles from leaves of Averrhoa carambola. Method: The essential oils were extracted by steam distillation and analyzed by GC-MS. The relative content of each component was determined by area normalization. Result: Fifty peaks were separated and twenty-four of them were identified
representing about 72.00% of the total content. The main types of the volatiles were aliphatic acids
alkanes and terpenoids. Conclusion: This research could give a scientific basis for the further research on the leaves of A.carambola.
