Tissue Distribution of Atrazine and Its Main Metabolite in Rat
Objective: To develop an HPLC method for the determination of atrazine (ATR) and its main metabolite (DEDIA) in rat plasma and tissues
and to study tissue distribution. Method: Rats were oral administrated atrazine at a single dose
blood and tissues samples were collected at 0.5

6 and 12 h after administration. After precipitated protein with acetonitrile
an HPLC-UV method was established to determine the concentration of ATR and DEDIA
the analytes were eluted by gradient solvent of MeOH/H2O which contained 0.5% acetic acid. Result: ATR was quickly and extensively metabolized to DEDIA in rat
ATR and DEDIA could be detected in plasma and tissues;DEDIA widely distributed in various tissues
but with varies elimination rates
especially slow in liver and kidney. Conclusion: Those distribution and elimination regular of ATR and DEDIA can provide references for toxicokinetics study.
