Reno-protective Effects of on Diabetic Nephropathy in Rats
Objective: To investigate the renal protective effect of Curcuma wenyujin on the kidney in diabetic rats. Method: Fouty Wistar rats were divided into sham operation group
model group and C.wenyujin-treatment group. Nephrectomy and streptozocin(STZ
45 mg ·kg-1ip) were used to induce diabetic nephropathy and treated with C.wenyujin(3 g ·kg-1 ·d-1 ig).Blood glucose(Glu)
total cholesterol(TC)
serum creatinine clearance
amount of urinary albumin
connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) protein and pathologic change of kidney tissue were observed. Result: The amount of Glu
TC
urinary albumin and renal protein expression of CTGF were markedly increased in model group compared with those in normal group(P<0.01). Pathologic changes of kidney tissue presented further development. Treatment with C.wenyujin could significantly decrease the above indexes compared with those in diabetic model group(P<0.01)
and pathologic changes of kidney tissue were significantly improved. Conclusion: C.wenyujin has reno-protective effects on diabetic nephropathy in rats
and these effects may be correlated with its inhibition on over-expression of CTGF in kidney.
