Objective: To study DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities of Oxtropis myriophylla. Method: The anti-oxidant activity of O . myriophylla was measured by DPPH assay and ABTS assay. Furthermore
the AB-8 macroporous absorbent resincolumn chromatography with gradient elution (aqueous solution
50% and 90% ethanol solution)were used. Result: 50% ethanol extract from O . myriophylla in the capability of scavenging DPPH and ABTS free radicals was much stronger than any other fractions
which is a trifle stronger than ascorbic acid. In addition
the active ingredient was screened effectively by the column chromatography method. Conclusion: 50% ethanol extract from O . myriophylla in the capability of scavenging DPPH and ABTS free radicals was much stronger than any other fractions
