Objective: To outline the application of biotechnology in decreasing the toxicity and increasing the efficacy of Tripterygium. Method : The related literatures
including articles concerning biologically targeting drug delivery
modifying a ingredient by enzymes or cells
isolating effective components from endophytes and the overall fermentation of Tripterygium. Result : By delivering drugs to the lesion site

the biotechnology could decrease the toxicity and increase the efficacy of Tripterygium at both monomer and overall level. Conclusion : The application of biotechnology
including biotransforming effective ingredients of Tripterygium by type and genetic engineering bacteria
screening the best targets from the related genes of biotical detoxification and toxicological effects
and synthesizing their inhibitors to get the efficacy components
will be an important direction in the research of Tripterygium.
