Clinical Observation on Treatment of Patients with Recurrent Aphthous Ulcer with Oral Antidote Decoction
Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of oral taking of Oral Antidote Decoction(OAD)
a Chinese recipe for nourishing yin to remove pathogenic fire
combined with external applying of OAD on recurrent aphthous ulcer(RAU). Method: A total of 128 patients with RAU were treated with the combined therapy of OAD
and 100 patients in the control group were treated with Western medicine. The clinical efficacy of the two groups was observed. Result: Short-term effect: the reduction of ulcerated and congestive area as well as the degree of pain alleviation in the treated group on the 7th day after treatment were more significant than those in the control group respectively. Long-term effect: after treatment the cure rate was 11.7%(15/128)
the markedly effective rate 53.1%(68/128)
the effective rate 31.3%(40/128)
and the total effective rate 96.1% in the treated group
while the corresponding rates in the control group were 5%(5/100)
28%(28/100)
40%(40/100) and 73%
respectively
showing significant difference between the two groups(P<0.01). Conclusion: Oral taking combined with external use of OAD can lessen the congestion of mucous membrane around the ulcerated lesion
quickly alleviate the pain and promote the ulcer healing in patients with RAU
and it also can significantly prolong the interval of RAU recurrence.
