The Effects of Epimedium Herb on Neuro-endocrino-immune Network in Asthma Models
Objective:To study changes of several related subjects of neuro-endocrino-immune network(NEI) in asthma models
to study the effects of Epimedium Herb on NEI.Methods:54 BN rats were randomly divided into 5 groups
Group A
B
C
D and E.Group A was the normal group.Group B was the allergic asthma model.Group C
D and E were administered respectively with low
moderate and high dose Epimedium Herb.CRHmRNA
ACTH
CORT
IL-6
IL-4
IFN-γ were measured in all groups.Results:The expression of CRHmRNA in hypothalamic tissue and concentration of interferon gamma in blood both increased in controlled groups in comparison with group B.There were higher expression of CRHmRNA in group C or D than that in group B.There were higher concentration of IFN-γ in group D than that in group B.Conclusion:The rats troubled with repeated asthmatic attack for three weeks had disorders of NEI(mainly including HPA axis and several cytokines).Epimedium Herb could improve HPA axis and Th1/Th2 cytokines so as to alleviate the inflammation of asthma.
