Effect of Zuo Gui Pill and You Gui Pill on Remyelination and Axonal Regeneration in Rats with Experimental Allergic Encephalomyelitis
Objective:To explore effects of Zuo Gui Pill and You Gui Pill on remyelination and axonal regeneration in experimental allergic encephalomyelitis(EAE) model rat.Methods:The rats were injected antigen containing myelin basic protein(MBP) and Freund's Adjuvant Complete(CFA)in the same volume in both rat postpeds.Asa control of prednisone
the injury and regeneration of myelin and axon in rat brain and spinal cord were observed by using myelin staining and immunohistochemistry method after the rats model were made at 14 and 28 days.Results:The injury of myelin and axon were reduced by treated with Zuo Gui Pill and You Gui Pill in EAE rat
Both of MBP and neurofilament protein(NF200) expressions were increased significantly in the treatment groups of Zuo Gui Pill and You Gui Pill(P<0.05 or 0.01) compared with the model group.Conclusions:Zuo Gui Pill and You Gui Pill can restorate the nervous myelin and axonal injury which may be the mechanism of tonifying-kidney formulae in promoting rehabilitation in rats with EAE.
