Effect of Guizhi Tang on CREB in Hypothalamus in Both Fever and Hypothermia Rats
Objective:To investigate the changes of the activity of CREB in both fever and hypothermia Rats and the mechanism of thermoregulatory action of Guizhi Tang.Methods:The activity of CREB in hypothalamus in both fever and hypothermia rat pretreated with Guizhi Tang were measured via spectrophotometric method.Results:The pCREB activity in both model rats
especially in fever rats
enhanced
and treatment with Guizhi Tang counteracted the rise of pCREB in fever rats but not in hypothermia model.Conclusion:CREB may participate in the thermoregulation in rats and reduction in CREB may contributed to antipyretic action of Guizhi Tang
while the hypothermia production may be independent of CREB.
