Objective:To explore the effects of Fructus Schisandrae Sphenantherae on proliferation and differentiation of rat osteoblast cell in vitro.Methods:Serum pharmacology was applied to the investigation.Osteoblast cell was isolated from calvaria of newborn SD rats by means of modified sequential collagenase digestion and incubated in RPMI 1640 medium. The cell morphology was observed under a phase contrast inverted microscope.MTT assay

95% ethanol extracts of Fructus Schisandrae Sphenantherae increased the number of mineral nodes after cultured 2w(P<0.01).Water extracts of Fructus Schisandrae Sphenantherae had no significantly effects on proliferation and differentiation of rat osteoblast cell in vitro.Conclusion: 95% ethanol extracts of Fructus Schisandrae Sphenantherae had the effects on proliferation and differentiation of rat osteoblast cell in vitro.
