The Effect of Chinese Medicine Suifukang on the Expression of Nogo-A mRNA and Protein after Spinal Cord Injury in Rhesus Monkeys
Objective: To investigate the effect of Chinese Medicine Suifukang(SFK) on the expression of Nogo-A mRNA and protein after spinal cord injury in rhesus monkeys. Methods: Ten out of fourteen adult rhesus monkeys received the left spinal cord hemisection on T12
and then was randomly divided into two groups: SFK groups(5) and control group(5).The other four monkeys were served as the normal controls. The expression of Nogo-A mRNA was detected by in-situ hybridization technique and the expression of Nogo-A protein was detected by immunohistochemistry technique. Results: The positive cells of Nogo-A mRNA and its OD value in the model group were more than those in other groups(P<0.05);The Nogo-A mRNA positive cells and its OD value in SFK group were less than those in the model group(P<0.05).The changes of Nogo-A protein positive cells number and its OD value was similar with that of Nogo-A mRNA.Conclusions:SFK can restrain the expression of Nogo-A obviously. It is possible to improve microenvironment in the injured spinal cord and to regenerate of nervous tissue.
