Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is a sort of parenchymal lesion not caused by excessive consumption of alcohol.It includes simplex fatty liver
steatohepatitis
greasy hepatic fibrosis and cirrhosis.NAFLD encompasses a spectrum of common hepatic disorders in contemporary society with multiple pathologic consequences and is incidence is paralleling the increasing numbers of overweight and obese individuals worldwide.The pathogenesis of NAFLD is thought to be related mainly with insulin resistance syndrome and oxidative stress
and no effective drug can be obtained in the market for treatment of NAFLD.Large experimental studies on NAFLD are in progress recently.This review outlines the experimental studies about NAFLD and the advantage of traditional Chinese medicine in treatment of NAFLD.
