Estrogenic Effect of Psoraleae Fructus in Ovariectomized Rats
Objective:To investigate the estrogenic effects of Psoraleae Fructus in ovariectomized rats.Method: Female SD rats were ovariectomized(ovx)and randomly assigned to four groups:ovariectomized without treatment
sham operated
ovx rats treated with 0.08 mg·kg-1 progynova and ovx rats treated with Psoraleae Fructus at dose of 0.59 g·kg-1 for four weeks. The rectal temperature
wet weight of uterus and adrenal gland were observed
levels of estradiol(E2)
luteinizing hormone(LH) and follicle stimulating hormone(FSH) in serum were detected by ELISA.Result: Compared with untreated OVX controls
both Psoraleae Fructus and progynova treatments showed significant and clear estrogenic activity as indicated by increased weight of uterus and adrenal gland
and the reduction in rectal temperature(P<0.01).Significant increased in serum E2 and decreased in serum LH and FSH were found compared with the untreated OVX controls(P<0.01).Conclusion: Psoraleae Fructus has estrogenic activity in ovariectomized rats.
