Objective: To observe the protective effect of Hushen Tonglin decoction on kidney injury and its effects on levels of superoxide dismutase in blood serum (SOD) and malonaldehyde (MDA) in patients with kidney calculi after extracorporeal shock-wave lithotripsy (ESWL). Method: One hundred and twenty-eight patients with kidney calculi were randomly divided into control group (63 cases) and observation group (65 cases). Patients of both groups received ESWL treatment

and symptomatic treatment such as anti-infection was given after surgery. Patients in control group received Paishi capsules for 14 days

3 times/day. Patients in observation group took Hushen Tonglin decoction for 14 days

1 dose/day. Time of lumbago relief and disappearance time of gross hematuria were recorded. At the 1th

7th and 14th day after operation
