Objective: To estimate the pharmacokinetics of eugenol in rats after intragastric administration of Bawei Chenxiang San. Method: HPLC was employed to determine the plasma concentration of eugenol with 3
4-dimethoxystyrene as the internal standard
mobile phase of acetonitrile-water for gradient elution and detection wavelength at 280 nm.After intragastric administration of Bawei Chenxiang San
DAS 2.0 software conducted compartment model fitting of average plasma concentration-time data of eugenol. Result: After intragastric administration of Bawei Chenxiang San
two-compartment model (weight of 1/cc) calculated the plasma concentration of eugenol was completely consistent with the measured value
and was superior to other models.The distribution half-life (t1/2α) was 20.031 min and the elimination half-life (t1/2β) was 69.315 min. Conclusion: The established HPLC method is convenient
accurate and stable
which can be used for pharmacokinetics of eugenol in Bawei Chenxiang San.Eugenol distributes rapidly in rats
the main process of eugenol in rats is elimination with moderate metabolic rate.
