Objective: To study the chemical constituents of Plantaginis Semen. Method: The constituents were isolated and purified by macroporous resin HP-20
column chromatography over silica gel
RP-8 silica gel
Sephadex LH-20 and by preparative HPLC. Their structures were elucidated by analysis of physical and chemical properties and spectral data. Result: Nine compounds were isolated from Plantaginis Semen and their structures were identified as cyclo-(S-Pro-R-Phe) (1)

blumenol A (3)
1H-indole-3-carbaldehyde (4)
daucosterol (5)
α-linoleic acid (6)
α-linolenic acid (7)
γ-linolenic acid (8)
oleic acid (9). Conclusion: Compounds 1

8 were isolated from Plantaginaceae for the first time.
