Development of Precise Powder Decoction Pieces of Notoginseng Radix et Rhizoma:Analysis of Quality Uniformity
Objective: Clinical curative effect is closely related to the specifications and quality of Chinese medicine decoction pieces.Chemical fingerprint methods and DNA molecular identification technology were used to evaluate the quality of precise powder decoction pieces (PPDP) of Notoginseng Radix et Rhizoma by comparing with the traditional commercial slices. Method: Different specifications of PPDP of Notoginseng Radix et Rhizoma were prepared

fingerprint and similarity evaluation before and after the mixing and pulverization were studied by HPLC-DAD and DNA sequence alignment. Result: Dry extract yield of PPDP of Notoginseng Radix et Rhizoma were remarkablely higher than that of the traditional commercial slices.Dissolution rates of notoginsenoside R1
ginsenoside Rg1 and Rb1 in PPDP were higher than those of traditional commercial slices.RSDs of inter-assay dissolution of the three components of commercial slices were 13.1%
32.7% and 24.5%
respectively
which could be reduced to 3.6%
2.6% and 3.5% after mixing and preparing into PPDP.After comminution
the similarity of fingerprints was improved
14 peaks were identified and their peak areas were improved. Conclusion: PPDP and traditional commercial slices of Notoginseng Radix et Rhizoma share consistent properties
while PPDP can apparently improve dry extract yield
