Objective: To select the best ratio of damp-proofing excipients for astragalus polysaccharides (APS) granules. Method: APS was chosen as a model drug. The influence of single and blended excipients on hygroscopicity of APS was studied with the method of single factor test to screen the kinds and ratio of the excipients and measure its critical relative humidity. Result: The best damp-proofing excipients integrated with hygroscopicity
formability and appearance were lactose
microcrystalline cellulose and mannitol by 2 ∶1 ∶1 ratio with polysaccharides and its critical relative humidity was 66%. Conclusion: Screened excipients were effective in reducing hygroscopicity of polysaccharide component.
