Chronische Herzinsuffizienz (CHS) ist das Endstadium verschiedener Herzkrankheiten. In der Traditionellen Chinesischen Medizin (TCM) wird die Pathogenese der CHS als Grundlage von Mangel und Überschuss beschrieben, wobei der Mangel hauptsächlich auf eine Herz-Qi-Schwäche zurückzuführen ist, und der Überschuss sich in einer übermäßigen Ansammlung pathologischer Produkte wie Schleim, Stase und Wassereinlagerungen äußert. Im Verlauf der Entstehung und Entwicklung der CHS ist die Störung des normalen Flusses des Herz-Qi stets der Schlüssel zum Krankheitsgeschehen. Im 《Huangdi Neijing · Suwen · Abhandlung über die Fünf Bewegungsgroßtheorien》 heißt es: "Folgt man seinem Qi, ist man im Gleichgewicht; widersetzt man sich seinem Qi, entsteht Krankheit." Dies beschreibt die Beziehung zwischen dem menschlichen Körper und der Naturenergie Qi: Harmonie bedeutet Gesundheit, Widerstand Krankheit. Es wird ein Behandlungskonzept vorgestellt, das aus der Perspektive "Widersetzen des Qi führt zu Krankheit" die CHS behandelt: einerseits durch Auffüllen des Herz-Qi-Mangels (Tonifizierung des Herz-Qi bei gleichzeitiger Stärkung der Milz), andererseits durch das Freimachen der Herz-Qi-Leitbahnen (Umwandlung von Schleim und Beseitigung von Trübungen zur Öffnung der Leitbahnen, Beseitigung von Stasen zur Verbesserung des Blutflusses und Umwandlung von Flüssigkeiten zur Förderung des Blutkreislaufs). Die Wirkung einzelner chinesischer Kräuter und Formeln auf das Myokard und mikroskopische Parameter des Körpers unter Anwendung von Methoden des "Auffüllens" und "Freimachens" wird analysiert. Durch diese Behandlungsmethoden erlangt das Herz-Qi seine Eigenschaften "Fülle" und "Freier Fluss", erreicht Harmonie und verbessert so die CHS. Es wird gehofft, dass dies eine neue Denkweise für die zukünftige Behandlung der CHS bietet.
