    • Targeted Regulation of Oocyte Quality by Traditional Chinese Medicine Compound Formula: A Review

      Enhanced Publication
    • “The oocyte, as the origin of life, provides half of the chromosomes for the embryo and provides the necessary protein, substrate, energy, and other support for embryonic development. It is a decisive factor in the ability of embryo development. Infertility caused by reproductive endocrine diseases all rely on the oocyte as the last target cell, and improving the quality of the oocyte is a key challenge in modern reproductive medicine. The decline in oocyte quality is related to mechanisms such as meiotic abnormalities, DNA damage, mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, etc. Currently, there is no unified international guideline for recommending drugs for oocyte quality issues. Due to strict clinical ethical limitations involved in drug intervention research on oocytes, current research is only limited to animal and in vitro experiments and has not yet been applied to clinical practice. Traditional Chinese medicine formulas have multi-target and multi pathway regulatory mechanisms, and are widely used in clinical practice. More and more research is beginning to focus on the potential mechanisms of traditional Chinese medicine formulas in improving oocyte quality. Traditional Chinese medicine formulas have synergistic effects of multiple targets and pathways in improving oocyte quality, as well as advantages of being safer, more individualized, and in line with clinical ethics. This article systematically reviews the research progress of traditional Chinese medicine compound interventions on oocyte quality, and provides a summary and suggestions for improving oocyte quality and optimizing traditional Chinese medicine clinical diagnosis and treatment of female infertility”
