Objective: To observe the effects of Huoxue Sanjie decoction on hepatic cirrhotic portal system hemodynamics. Method: Ninty cases of cirrhotic portal hypertension were randomly divided into two groups

control group (n=46) received oral propranolol therapy

the treatment group (n=44) oral propranolol

but liver area external application of Chinese medicine Huoxue Sanjie decoction

two groups were treated for 1 months.Before and after treatment using color ultrasound observation portal venous hemodynamic changes. Result: The control group treated with portal vein diameter was reduced after treatment (P<0.05)

but no significant changes in the diameter of splenic vein
