Objective:To observe the efficacy of Bushen Anshen capsule in treating diabetes mellitus complicating depression. Method: Sixty cases of diabetes complicating depression were randomly divided into treatment group and control group. On the basis of the conventional treatment of diabetes

the control group was given oral fluoxetine and the treatment group received oral Bushen Anshen capsule for 12 weeks. Before and after the treatment

the clinical effect were evaluated separately with hamilton depression(HAMD)

fasting blood glucose(FBG)

postprandial blood glucose (PBG) and glycosylated hemoglobin A(HbA1C). Result: Both treatment group and control group could relieve the depressive symptoms

decrease the blood glucose level.There was significant difference of PBG between treatment group and control group. Conclusion: Bushen Anshen capsule is effective in treating diabetes mellitus complicating depression.
