Objective: To study the effect of effective parts from Musa basjoo(EPM) on blood glucose and glucose tolerance in mice. Method: Diabetic model was induced by intraperitoneal injection of Alloxan once. Diabetic mice were randomly divided into model group

50 mg · kg-1). All groups were fed for 14 consecutive days
and then the blood glucose was detected on the fifteenth day. Effect on the glucose tolerance in model and normal mice were detected at the same time. Result: EPM could significantly decrease the blood glucose level of diabetic mice(P<0.05)and ameliorate the glucose tolerance in normal and diabetic mice(P<0.05)
but it had no significant effect on the blood glucose level of normal mice. Conclusion: EPM can significantly decrease the blood glucose level in diabetic mice and ameliorate the glucose tolerance in normal and diabetic mice.
