Objective: To study the anti-inflammation effects of tetra-acetylated puerarin and its mechanism. Method: Male rats were randomly divided into normal control group

and the model was established at 30 min after last injection.To abserve the influence of tetra-acetylated puerarin on acute paw oedema induced by carrageenin

content of prostaglandin E2(PGE2) in inflammatory tissue

as well as tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) and interleukin-1β(IL-1β) in serum was measured. Result: Tetra-acetylated puerarin(80 mg·kg-1) showed marked suppressive effect on paw oedema induced by carrageenin in rats(P<0.01). In addition

the content of PGE2(P<0.05)in infl-ammatiory tissue along with the content of TNF-α(P<0.05) and IL-1β(P<0.05)in serum was all was reduced at the dosage of 80 mg·kg-1. Conclusion: Tetra-acetylated puerarin has a marked suppressive effect on paw oedema induced by carrageenin in rats.Its effects may be related to the inhibition on inflammatory factors.
