Objective: To observe the protective action of Panax notoginseng saponins (PNS)on immunological liver injury in mice. Method: Mice were randomly divided into five groups
control group
model group
low-dose (100 mg ·kg-1) of PNS
middle-dose (200 mg ·kg-1) of PNS
high-dose (400 mg ·kg-1) of PNS and bifendate (150 mg ·kg-1) group. The model of mouse with immunological liver injury was induced by injection of BCG and LPS from tail vein. The ALT
AST
MDA content
SOD and GSH-Px activities were assayed by spectrophotometry
hepatic tissues stained with hematoxylin and eosin (HE) were prepared for histological analysis to liver injury. Moreover TNF-α mRNA expression in liver tissue was detected by RT-PCR technology. Result: PNS could decrease the enlarged liver
spleen index
ALT
AST and MDA content(P<0.05 or P<0.01)
prevented the reduction of SOD and GSH-Px activities in liver homogenate(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Meanwhile
the pathological injury of hepatic tissues was alleviated and the expression of TNF-α mRNA in liver tissue was inhibited. Conclusion: PNS showed significant protective action on immunological liver injury in mice.
