Objective: To investigate the effect of extracts from Pothos chinensis (Raf.)Merr.on hyperglycemia. Method: Experimental observation was performed by using diabetic mice induced by alloxan and glucose injection.The mices were randomly divided into the control and treated group to detect blood glucose level respectively. Result: Both the extract of water extracting-alcohol precipitating solution of P.chinensis (A1) and extract of water extracting-alcohol precipitating sediments (A2) exhibited considerable beneficial effect on lowering the abnormal blood glucose level induced by alloxan in mice.The 70% alcohol extract (B) showed little effect.Both A1 and A2 reduced significantly the high blood glucose level induced by glucose injection in mice after 0.5

1 and 2 hours. Conclusion: Both A1 and A2 exhibited the same beneficial effect on the two kinds of diabetic mice model

suggesting a considerable hypoglycemic effect.B has no obvious effect on diabetic mice model.
