ObJective: To observe the effect of a acupuncture medication combined regimen(AMCR) on the vascular endothelial function and the velocity of blood flow in the vertebral-basilar artery in patients with vertebro-basilar insufficiency(VBI). Method : Adopting randomized and controlled principle
a trial was conducted on 98 patients with VBI by randomized them into two groups
they were administered AMCR (Group A) and flunarizine hydrochloride capsule (Group B)respectively
for 20 days. Changes of the velocity of blood flow in the vertebral-basilar artery
as well as the levels of serum nitric oxide(NO)
plasma endothelin-1(ET-1)
6-keto-prostaglandin1α(6-keto-PGF1α) and thromboxane B2(TXB2) were observed before and after treatment. Result :After treatment the velocity of blood flow in the vertebral-basilar artery increased and clinical symptoms improved
with serum NO and 6-keto-PGF1α levels elevated
plasma ET-1 and TXB2 decreased in all the two groups(P<0.05).But the inter-group comparisons showed that the effect in Group A was superior to the other group in increasing the velocity of blood flow in the vertebral-basilar artery
elevating serum NO and 6-keto-PGF1α levels and decreasing plasma TXB2(P<0.05). Conclusion : The AMCR has markedly effect in increasing the velocity of blood flow in the vertebral-basilar artery
it could obviously improve the symptoms and vascular endothelial function
and inhibit the level of inflammatory factor in patients with VBI.
