The effects of chemical synthetic drugs for treatment of depression are obvious

but long-term use will bring with serious side effects. Chinese medicine is mild and has few side effects

prescriptions containing bupleurum as the monarch are widely used in treatment of depression. In this paper

experimental and clinical studies about this categrey of prescriptions were reviewed for treatment of depression. It demonstrates that prescriptions containing bupleurum as the monarch play a significant role in treatment of depression.
