Objective: To investigate the effects of gargle on radiation stomatitis. Method: Total 45 tumor patients were divided into two groups: the treatment group( n =25)and the control group( n =20).Gan Bing gargle was used to oral cavity rinse in the treatment group

while western medicine was used in the control group. RTOG indicator were used to evaluate the severity of oral mucitis.The efficacy was compared between the two groups. Result: There was no significant differences between the two groups( P ＞0.05)in the efficacy when low dose of the drug was given

but there was significant differences between the two groups( P ＜0.05)when median and high dose of the drug was given. Conclusion: Our study showes that Gan Bing gargle is of obvious curative effect in treating stomatitis and it can reduce stomatitis occurrence for the patients receieved rhinopharyngocele radiotherapy.
