Objective:To study the effect of Naoli Zhibao(NLZB) on learning and memory acquired disorder induced by Scopolamine. Methods:Scopolamine was injected intraperitoneally to induce learning and memory acquired disorder in mice. The learning and memory capability of mice was investigated by step-down test
the activity of acetylcholinesterase(AChE) in serum and brain and the contents of free amino acids were measured. Results:NLZB significantly promoted the learning and memory capability of mice
and depressed the activity of AChE in serum and brain. On the other hand
NLZB could increase the contents of glutamate acid(Glu) and aspartic acid(Asp) in brain while the content of gamma-aminobutyric acid(GABA) was decreased. Conclusion:It is suggested that NLZB not only could regulate the center cholinergic system by depressing the activities of AchE and improving the level of acetylcholine in brain
but also could increase Glu/GABA ratio
which might be one of the mechanislms of NLZB to reinforcing intelligence.
