Aim:To observe the anti-atherosclerotic mechanisms by Dahuang Zhechong pill.Methods:The atherosclerotic model was established by hypercholesterol feeding together with immune-injured endothelium in rabbits.The levels of blood lipid and MDA in the serum were determined.Histological examination was done by light microscopes.Results:The results showed that the level of MDA was decreased and the level of blood lipid wasn't significantly changed in Dahuang Zhechong pill-administered groups in comparison with the control group.Histological examination showed the reduced area of atherosclerotic plaque in aorta

descreased foam cells in drug-administered groups.Conclusions:Dahuang Zhechong pill can inhibit the development of early atherosclerosis by the non-lowering lipid mechanisms
