Objective: To analyze the correlation between the average weight of Ligusticum chuanxiong and the content of effective components
thus revealing the connotation of grades division of L.chuanxiong
and compare the content of ferulic acid
total phenolic acids in L.chuanxiong from new and traditional producing areas
thus providing references for the quality control of L.chuanxiong. Method: HPLC was adopted to determine the content of ferulic acid in L.chuanxiong from new and traditional producing areas. UV spectrophotometry was adopted to determine the content of total phenolic acids with gallic acid as reference. SPSS software was adopted to analyze the correlation between the weight of L.chuanxiong and the content of ferulic acid and total phenolic acids. Result: The content of ferulic acid in L.chuanxiong from new and traditional producing areas was 0.173 4% to 0.312 9%
while the content of total phenolic acids was 0.978 6% to 1.472 3%. There were small differences between the content of ferulic acid and total phenolic acids in L.chuanxiong from different producing areas. The average weight of L.chuanxiong had a positive correlation between the content of ferulic acid. Conclusion: There were no significant differences between the content of ferulic acid and total phenolic acids
showed that the new and traditional producing areas all were suitable for the cultivation of L.chuanxiong
and the imbalance between supply and demand of L.chuanxiong could be relieved by introduction cultivation. The average weight of L.chuanxiong had a positive correlation between the content of ferulic acid
thus revealing the connotation of grades division of L.chuanxiong and providing theoretical supports for its grades division.
