Objective: To select the compatibility ratio of formulation Zhigeju water extracts which have the best protective effect on alcoholic liver injury by in vitro antioxidant activity. Method: The orthogonal test method was employed to design the different compatibility ratio of Hovenia Dulcis-Flos Puerar and exocarpium Citrus Grandis. The antioxidant assays (DPPH
O2-·
·OH scavenging activity) were employed to evaluate the antioxidant activities of the water extracts
and select the optimal compatibility ratio of formulation Zhigeju by the best total antioxidant ability. Result: The orthogonal test analysis got the best compatibility ratio was Hovenia Dulcis-Flos Puerar-exocarpium Citrus Grandis 3: 3: 2
the total antioxidant ability of water extraction was strongest at the ratio. The clearance rate of DPPH·
superoxide and hydroxyl free radical were 69.94%
32.47%
58.81% at the concentration of crude drugs 1.0 g·L-1. Conclusion: Formulation Zhigeju's best compatibility ratio of antioxidant ability is Hovenia Dulcis-Flos Puerar-exocarpium Citrus Grandis 3: 3: 2
and their total antioxidant abilities were better.
