Autophagy is a mayor degradative pathway for organelles and long-lived protein. The basic autophagy is crucial for cellular physiology
especially for non-renewable cells like neurons. Mounting evidences implicate that dysfunctional autophagy is relevant to several neurodegenerative diseases
including Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this review
we summarized research on autophagy in AD to introduce autophagy's role in AD's onset and progress
the modulation of traditional Chinese to autophagy as well as the potential therapeutic significance to AD of modulating autophagy.
