Objective: To optimize ultrasonic-microwave synergistic extraction technology of total triterpenes from Trichosanthes cucumeroides and investigate its antioxidant activity. Method: With the content of total triterpenes as index

ABTS assay and FRAP assay. Result: The best extraction conditions for total triterpenes from T. cucumeroides were as follows:extracted 6 min with 50 times the amount of 90% ethanol
microwave power 500 W.Scavenging DPPH·
scavenging ABTS+·and reducing Fe3+ of extract from T. cucumeroides were higher than tea polyphenol and lower than Vc
but scavenging OH·was lower than theirs. Conclusion: This optimized technology was simple and rapid
extract of T. cucumeroides showed certain antioxidant activity.
