Objective: To establish a high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method to determine acetyl-11-keto-β-boswellic acid in Xiaohuoluowan (concentrated pills). Method: The determination was carried out with Inertsil ODS-3 C18(4.6 mm×250 mm
5 μm) column. The mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile-0.1% acetic acid (80: 20). The flow rate was 1 mL·min-1. The detection wavelength was set at 249 nm. The column temperature was set at 30 ℃. The external standard method was used to quantify acetyl-11-keto-β-boswellic acid
the main chemical constituent of olibanum in Xiaohuoluowan (concentrated pills). Result: There was a good linear relationship between the absorption peak area and the concentration in the range of 25.95-207.6 mg·L-1(R2=0.999 9) for acetyl-11-keto-β-boswellic acid. The average recovery was 99.95% (n=6). Conclusion: The method is simple
accurate and reproducible. It can be used for quality control of olibanum in Xiaohuoluowan (concentrated pills).
